Northwest Kidney Centers seeks an Operations Manager for Hospital Services
Purpose
The Hospital Services Operations Manager is responsible to the Hospital Services Clinical Director for the day-to-day operations of Hospital Services. This includes assuring the proper dialysis and dialysis related equipment is available for patient care needs and works with Clinical Educator to assure staff is trained on the equipment. Assures the fluid quality of the dialysis equipment and the reporting to the Medical Director, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and hospital partners. Assures the proper inventory of supplies is available for patient care needs, supplies are monitored for expired dates, and the maintenance of the storerooms and equipment for preventative maintenance. Responsible for the patient treatment scheduling in collaboration with Regional Nurse Managers. Assures equipment disinfection logs, and charge sheets for treatments for billing are standardized and completed by NKC staff. Responsible for Hospital Services Kaizen efforts. Member of Hospital Services Leadership Team and participates in interviewing, hiring, and evaluations for Hospital Services staff. Approves timecards for staff and assures complete time and attendance documentation for all Hospital Services staff.

Duties and Responsibilities
- The Hospital Services Operations Manager is responsible for the day to-day operations of Hospital Services and is a member of the Hospital Services Leadership team that makes planning, hiring, and evaluation decisions for the department.
- Assures the proper dialysis and dialysis related equipment is available for patient care needs. This includes assuring maintenance, coordinating and organizing repairs, electrical safety testing, etc.
- Works collaboratively with NKC Technical Services. Investigates and resolves issues with equipment and reports to CMO, CNO and Medical Director.
- Works collaboratively with Hospital Services Clinical Educator to assure all clinical staff are trained on dialysis and dialysis related equipment. Assists with quarterly Skills Review.
- Oversees the fluid quality of the dialysis equipment and the reporting to the CMO, CNO and Medical Director and hospital partners. Works collaboratively with hospital partners and nephrologists. Supervises the Hospital Services Technical Coordinator and Associate Technical Coordinator and directs the non-clinical work of the Dialysis Technician III staff.
- Assures proper inventory of supplies is available for patient care needs and the 5S conditions of the storerooms are maintained. Works collaboratively with NKC Supply Chain.
- Oversees the patient treatment scheduling functions in collaboration with Regional Nurse Managers.
- Responsible for the Hospital Services efforts to integrate Kaizen principles into the daily practice (including daily huddles), and leads PDCA activities to problem solve, improve quality outcomes, implement Standard Work, and maintain 5S.
- Completes the investigation and follow-up on all Safety Alert System (SAS) events related to equipment, fluid quality, supplies, and scheduling in Hospital Services.
- Oversee and audits the record keeping of treatments (logs) and equipment (disinfection logs), charge sheets for treatments for billing are standardized and oversees/audits for accuracy.
- Participates in interviewing, hiring, orienting, supervising, and evaluating the Technical Coordinator, Associate Technical Coordinator, Scheduler, and Dialysis Technician IIIs.
- Approves timecards for staff and assures complete time and attendance documentation for all Hospital Services staff. Monitors overtime and meal and rest breaks.
- Coordinates with Clinical Director, Technical Services, and Supply Chain for purchases of capital expenditure equipment and supplies specific to Hospital Services.
- Develops policies and procedures specific to Hospital Services resources, equipment and medical supply inventory management, to include manufacturer and FDA product warning and recalls.
- Assures staff is observing safety procedures and works collaboratively with NKC Safety Officer.
- Member of Hospital Services QA/PI team.
- Keep informed of current clinical standards and practices involving Inpatient Dialysis Services and recommends changes in policies and procedures to keep program up to date.
- Leads emergency preparedness activities and assures annual drills are completed. Acts as liaison to Safety Officer.
- Primary point of contact for office building maintenance and security.
- Serves as resource and consultant to contract hospitals on dialysis related construction projects, equipment storage needs and Department of Health building codes
Required Qualifications
- The Hospital Services Operations Manager should have the equivalent of high school graduate level training, training or education in the science or medical field, an associate degree is preferred and one year experience providing direct patient care with medical responsibilities.
- Three years dialysis experience is required.
- Technical experience in fluid quality and dialysis equipment is required. Satisfactory completion of training by NKC Technical Services in machine maintenance, electrical testing, and fluid quality monitoring will be required within 3 months of hire.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Must possess excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and schedule daily tasks.
- Demonstrated communication skills.

- Paid Time Off includes personal time off and 8 Holidays. PTO will accrue bi-weekly and will be pro-rated based on the FTE. The accrual rate will be 7.39 hours each bi-weekly pay period for staff.
