Description:
Under general direction, provides prescribed medications andpharmaceutical products for adequate patient care according to professionalstandards and practices. Advises/consults with medical staff, other healthprofessionals, patients and families on pharmaceutical and patient care issues.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Prepares medications by reviewing and interpretingphysician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities. Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, andlabeling pharmaceuticals. Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies;advising interventions. Completes pharmacy operational requirements byorganizing and directing technicians' work flow; verifying their preparationand labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, andinspections. Provides pharmacological information by answeringquestions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patients ondrug therapies. Develops hospital staff's pharmacological knowledge byparticipating in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff, students, interns,externs, residents, and health care professionals. Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulatedby the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and thefood and drug administration by monitoring nursing unit inspections;maintaining records for controlled substances; removing outdated and damageddrugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervising the work results of supportpersonnel; maintaining current registration; studying existing and newlegislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions. Protects patients and technicians by adhering toinfection-control protocols and related procedures, rules, and regulations. Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attendingeducational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishingpersonal networks; participating in professional societies. Performsother related duties as required and directed.

- Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy with BS Pharm or PharmD Degree.
- Completion of pharmacy internship and holds state licensure.
Preferred:
- One year of Oncology related pharmacy experience.
