Description Summary

The Assistant Athletic Director will assist with all aspects of intercollegiate athletics on campus as well as manage facilities and equipment which are part of the program. The Assistant Athletic Director will be the institutional representative for the NJCAA, Region XI, and the ICCAC Conference if the Athletics Director is not available. The Assistant Athletic Director will also be responsible for fundraising within the athletic department. They will assist in the eligibility process along with submitting electronic documents to the NJCAA.
Examples of Duties

Constant (67-100%)
  • Provide leadership to the coaching staff and maintain the highest standards of ethical sportsmanship.
  • Provide administrative leadership for all authorized athletic teams for the college.
  • Assist Athletic Director with daily activities.
  • Responsible for directing and organizing fundraising within the athletic department.
  • Assist in conducting eligibility for each sport.
  • Coordinates athletic grade checks for all athletic teams. This includes, but is not limited to, filing forms, monitoring absences and providing reports back to the Athletic Director.
  • Attend meetings to represent the college and/or assigned department.
  • Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of communications within the college and community.
  • Responsible for athletic department reports.
  • Assist with athletic facility scheduling.
Frequent (34-66%)
  • Attend coaches' meetings.
  • Assist in the hiring of new head and/or assistant coaches.
  • Represent the Director in their absence.
Occasional (10-33%)
  • Serve on committees assigned.
  • Assist in special enrollment days such as the junior and senior visit days.
  • Help supervise assigned work study students.
  • Provide site monitoring for athletic events.
  • Help coordinate game management for all home athletic events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Provide and demonstrate strong customer service through approachability, adaptability, problem-solving (solution based and growth mindset approach) and desire to identify and support student success.
  • Must be able to handle public relations internally and externally.
  • Required to assist in recruiting, hiring, and evaluating coaches and officials, fundraising, scheduling athletic events, and scheduling of facilities.
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism and ethical standards in representing the College including confidentiality, respect, integrity, accountability, and kindness.
  • Work cooperatively within the Student Services Department and College as a whole.
  • Be able and willing to work in an environment of continually meeting necessary deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, logically, and coherently orally and in writing.
  • Assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems and exercise independent judgment when making decisions.
  • Ability to provide leadership and maintain good working relationships with staff.
  • Ability to plan and organize in a continually changing environment.


  • Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree in physical education, Athletic Management/Administration, Recreation, with two years of experience in athletic management or administration; or the equivalent experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that exhibit the ability to perform the expectations of the job.

    GENERAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

    Position involves constant (67-100%) sitting in an office setting as well as talking on the telephone and in person, listening, attending meetings, viewing computer screen and other types of close visual work; frequent (34-66%) walking, reaching, pushing, pulling and grasping and occasional (10-33%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, lifting (up to 20 pounds), and repetitive motion.
