San Jose Water Company is recruiting for a Junior Engineer inthe Water Services Engineering Group. Under the general direction of the Water Services Engineering Manager,the Junior Engineer assists in office engineering and other related work as required.
PrincipalDuties & Responsibilities
Assist with engineering work related to the preparation ofplans for new main extensions, fire service, hydrant and domestic serviceconnections for developer funded projects and capital improvement mainreplacement projects. Make effective useof AutoCAD and coordinate design of new facilities with existing and proposedutilities. Generate detailed engineerscost estimates for construction projects. Prepare construction bid documents and procure required permits. Perform engineering calculations, research,and analysis for projects assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD
Functional use of engineering mathematics and ability to solve problems with engineering calculations.
Ability to work independently and to complete challenging assignments.
Competent in the use of engineering and office software such Microsoft Word, Excel and Access and other software employed by the company.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Education and Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required. Possession of a valid EIT certificate and land development experience is preferred.
