Responsibilities

Under the direction and supervision of the SVP Strategic Clinical Partnerships, the Director of Medication Use Management is responsible for Part D medication utilization related to optimal participant outcomes, cost and compliance. Uses information from the EMR, MedWise, the PBM, and medical and finance claims data to deliver actionable medication utilization intervention strategies, information, performance, and cost savings to the Regional and Center Triad and Pharmacy Teams, and drive performance through them.

Essential Functions and Work Responsibilities

Functional Category: Medication Use Oversight

  • Ensures Company success by driving the department's Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) targets
  • Improves Pharmacy Clinical Quality by driving medication quality improvement plans and CVIs within InnovAge and with our service partners-
  • Lead the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify and analyze opportunities for improved participant care and operational efficiency.
  • Improves Part D and company financial performance by driving and measuring cost effective medication use initiatives
  • Monitors Part D and PBM communications for medication use requirements and new initiatives
  • Tracks, reports and improves performance on use medication metrics against industry performance as an indicator of Part D plan medication oversight
  • Identifies and roots out areas of fraud, waste or abuse or their potential
  • Provides collaborative guidance to Primary Care services concerning medication availability, use, cost and utilization management as part of Part D plan oversight
  • Collaborates with Clinical Analytics on related initiatives
  • Collects data, prepares reports, answers correspondence and compiles statistics for program effectiveness and regulatory purposes in coordination with the SVP of Strategic Clinical Partnerships
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to optimize medication usage and improve participant outcomes.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate medication management protocols and ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Monitor and analyze medication utilization data, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Lead education and training programs for staff and stakeholders on safe and effective medication management.
  • Oversee compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies related to medication usage.
  • Develop and implement strategies to assess and improve medication cost-effectiveness across various programs.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to analyze medication utilization trends and outcomes.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders on medication costs and value-based care.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with regulatory standards and best practices in medication management.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging therapies, and payer strategies to optimize medication procurement and usage.

  • Improves the clinical pharmacy team effectiveness and engagement with Center clinical teams
  • Effectively supervises and manages direct reports and provides, by example and leadership, motivation and direction to employees of the organization.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable state and federal employment laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; recognizing and rewarding employees; corrective disciplinary procedures and practices (under direction of supervisor and in partnership with the SVP Strategic Clinical Partnerships and Human Resources), addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Ensures annual employee performance reviews are completed in a timely and effective manner. Evaluates performance of employees for compliance with established policies and objectives of the organization and contributions in attaining objectives and manages a development plan for each direct report.
  • Helps set and maintain the tone of the department to ensure morale, teamwork, and the positive employment culture of the organization.
  • Regularly schedules leadership/management, department, and staff 1:1 meetings to provide leadership, development, and a forum for communication to ensure coordination and collaboration in meeting organization and individual goals.

    REQUIRED

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree or PharmD degree from an institution accredited by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and completion of an internship approved by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP)


    Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation

    • Current and valid Pharmacist License


    Required Work Experience and Qualifications
    • A minimum of 10 years in health plan medication management or PBM medication use management with Part D experience
    • Strong management skills and a minimum of three years' experience supervising staff.

    USD $136,400.00 - USD $177,400.00 /Yr.
