Job Responsibilities
With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital, 220 Faison Drive, Columbia SC 29203.
As the G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Civil Hospital Director, working under the general supervision of the Bryan Psychiatric Hospital (BPH) CEO, you will be responsible for the overall management of the civil hospital's operations, 24/7, 365 days of the year. Areas of responsibility include supervision of all clinical staff and other select operational staff, as well as indirect supervision of nursing staff for facility, fiscal planning and monitoring, facility and program management, program evaluation and development, and strategic planning. Development of relationships with other hospitals, agencies, and community groups.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree and relevant program management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
A master's degree or PhD with five (5) years of relevant program experience.

Must have the ability to stand, walk, reach, pull, bend, and climb stairs, move from one area-building to another and lift 50lbs. Must have knowledge of SCDMH and inpatient facilities' missions; programs and goals/objectives; management principles; healthcare and clinical trends; and hospital/healthcare accreditation standards and governing regulations. Ability to: plan and direct the work of multidisciplinary staffs; effectively communicate; develop, interpret and apply policies/procedures; apply analytical governing regulations. Position may require some night or weekend work.

Responsibilities for the G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Civil Hospital Director include but are not limited to:
- Oversees the daily operations of the G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital, civil campus.
- Has the oversight responsibility for ensuring compliance with applicable licensing, certification, and accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
- Has oversight responsibility for ensuring active treatment and a safe environment for patients, staff. and other. Implement monitoring systems & strategies which will assist in appropriate response and planning associated with fluctuations in census, medical or physical plant restrictions, building and space accommodations for all patients, and/or residents.
- Ensure integration of civil Psychiatric Hospital vision, strategic goals and objectives to include standardization of process to support all clinical services and outcomes management (PI) and administrative staff.
- In consultation with the BPH CEO and COO, develops a program-based budget and ensures the program operates within budget.
- Actively participates in performance improvement activities.
- Maintains compliance with Corporate Compliance, HIPAA, Harassment-free Workplace, EPMS, and Cultural Awareness policies.
- Assists in development of the strategic plan and performs additional duties and projects as assigned by the CEO of BPH.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
