Experience: Minimum years of experience not specified
License: Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA-approved program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology or active enrollment in a ARMRIT or ARRT registry eligible program required.
Certifications: ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology, ARRT or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine with advanced registry from the ARMRIT or ARRT in MRI required within one year of hire. CPR certification required.
Must-Have: ARRT (MR) certification, BLS (AHA or ARC) certification
Job Description:
- Perform MRI procedures following departmental protocols and standards.
- Operate MRI scanners and associated equipment proficiently.
- Examine requests and verify orders for each assigned patient.
- Identify and assist patients, providing a brief explanation of procedures.
- Prepare patients for procedures with full explanations and documentation.
- Interview patients for a complete medical history and review their EMRs.
- Correlate test results and laboratory data with exams.
- Assume responsibility for exams from start to completion.
- Prepare and administer IV contrast according to protocols and document appropriately.
- Evaluate image quality and consult with a radiologist as needed.
- Recognize abnormal anatomy and process additional images or measurements.
- Perform basic patient care functions and inform nursing personnel of patient condition changes.
- Initiate life support measures for patients when necessary.
- Assist physicians and PAs during invasive procedures using proper sterile techniques.
- Follow bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control procedures during invasive procedures.
- Obtain medication or contrast material for administration by a licensed practitioner.
- Practice radiation safety for self, employees, patients, and family members.
- Report malfunctioning equipment and maintain a safe working environment.
- Operate radiology computer systems to enter orders and charge procedures/supplies.
- Maintain an organized and clean work area, ensuring it is fully stocked.
- Assist other medical personnel during exams or services in conjunction with MRI scans.
- Maintain knowledge of MRI safety requirements for both staff and patients.
