Job Title: MRI Technologist
Job Specialty: Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology
Job Duration: 13 or 26 weeks
Shift: Mon-Thu, 7pm-5:30am
Guaranteed Hours: 40.00
Experience: Ability to work in a fast-paced Level I trauma environment and produce high-quality images
License: ARRT or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine with advanced registry from ARMRIT or ARRT in MRI required within one year of hire
Certifications: CPR certification required
Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA approved program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology or active enrollment in an ARMRIT or ARRT registry eligible program
Job Description:
- Perform MRI procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards.
- Operate MRI scanners and associated equipment including scanners, post-processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport, and monitoring equipment.
- Examine requests and verify orders for each assigned patient; consult radiologist if discrepancies occur.
- Properly identify and assist patients while offering brief explanations of procedures.
- Interview patients for complete medical history and review EMRs to obtain pertinent clinical history.
- Prepare and administer IV contrast following departmental protocols.
- Evaluate technical quality of images and consult with a radiologist as needed.
- Recognize abnormal anatomy and process additional images or measurements as instructed.
- Perform basic patient care functions and initiate life support measures if necessary.
- Assist in code blue procedures during medical emergencies.
- Practice sterile techniques and perform invasive procedures in accordance with safety protocols.
- Maintain a safe MRI environment and follow radiation safety standards.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate supervisor and engineering team.
- Maintain cleanliness and stock work areas to promote workplace hygiene.
- Assist other medical personnel when performing exams or services in conjunction with an MRI scan.
- Attend all in-service classes and complete required safety modules.
