Bilingual Senior Legal Counsel (French/English)

You will join a team of seasoned legal professionals in a fast-paced work environment focused on creating and supporting asset-based retail and inventory based financial solutions for equipment manufacturers, dealers, and distributors in the Food and Agriculture, Healthcare, Construction, Industrial, Office Equipment and Technology industries. You will report into the Head of Legal, Canada. You will work with the business to maintain existing financial products and develop new financial products. You will provide advice to the business on the impact and implementation of new laws and regulations. You will work with the leadership team to support the implementation of the strategic plan of the business. As a part of your core function, you will assess and monitor all processes, procedures, structures, products, and services from a legal point of view and continuously monitor and advise on optimization of concerning processes and services, liaising with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

Day to Day

  • Analyzing, drafting, and providing guidance on legal documents.
  • Performing legal research.
  • Advising the business on developments in the law and impacts on the business.
  • Negotiating vendor program agreements, dealer agreements and end-user customer agreements.
  • Providing advice in connection with secured transactions and structured financial solutions.
  • Managing the corporate governance and licensing requirements of the business.
  • Reviewing and updating templates documents.
  • Liaising with Sales, Operations, and other relevant internal and external parties.
  • Ensuring compliance with global, regional and/or local legal and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Delivering input to the country strategy and business plan from a legal perspective.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of (or parts of) legal policies and procedures.
  • Exchanging and sharing legal knowledge, contributing to the internal legal network, and proactively informing management about legal and compliance developments.

Essentials

  • Minimum of 8-10 years' experience gained at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal department, with an emphasis on financial services, secured transactions, equipment finance and inventory finance.
  • Bilingual in French, with ability to communicate verbally and in writing in French a requirement.
  • A degree in Civil Law.
  • A strong understanding of the Quebec Consumer Protection Act and the Register of Personal and Movable Real Rights is a requirement.
  • Excellent business judgment and strong analytical and drafting skills are essential.
  • Experience in equipment leasing, lending, and vendor finance.
  • An energetic and motivated self-starter with sound judgment.
  • Capable of working independently in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
  • Ability to work from home remotely/independently and in a virtual team environment.
  • Some travel may be required of the position.

Desired Primary Work Location: Quebec (remote work)

Applicable Pay Range

$125,824 - $188,736

* Targeting min-mid range of the Salary Grade.

DLL is considering candidates in numerous locations. The pay estimate displayed represents the typical pay range for candidates hired for this position in the desired primary work location. Pay may be adjusted outside the projected range based on geographical differentiation as well as for any other lawful reason. Additional factors that may be used to determine your actual pay include your specific skills, years of relevant experience you possess, and other work-related qualifications. Many candidates may start in the bottom half of the applicable pay range, especially those with less experience or qualification.

This position is subject to the terms of DLL's compensation plans and policies. Further, the position includes all other benefits provided to DLL employees, including healthcare benefits, pension plan, vacation, sick leave, parental leave, possible discretionary bonuses, and all other benefits that are subject to eligibility.
