Job Description:
The Division Planner will help shape the future of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands. Creation of Comprehensive Management Plans for Sovereign Lands such as Great Salt Lake and Utah Lake helps set the management goals and objectives for the Division. Division-wide strategic planning guides the Division's priorities, and developing policies and Standard Operating Procedures makes the Division more efficient and cohesive.

Responsibilities
- Develop Comprehensive Management Plans for State and Sovereign Lands.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on policy issues.
- Be the liaison between six Area Offices and the State Office on all planning and policy work.
- Fulfill duties as the Division's Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA) Officer.
- Update State Code and Administrative Rules.
- Help the Division think and act strategically; assisting with the development of Strategic Plans for single resources, programs, and the Division as a whole.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of natural resource policies, best management practices, and issues of concern.
- The ability to collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- An understanding of the politics of working in a government agency.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Experience coordinating and collaborating with diverse stakeholders is required.
- Experience creating Management Plans, Strategic Plans, and policies is required.
- The desire to be innovative and forward-thinking.
- Is willing to learn the breadth of the Division and identify how better planning can help each program.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Natural Resources, Public Administration, or a related field would be beneficial. A Master's Degree in Planning, Natural Resources, Public Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in creating planning documents.
- Experience coordinating and leading public outreach.
- Experience with the Legislative process.
- Knowledge of Utah's natural resources and their issues.
- Experience managing contracts, invoices, and budgets.
- An understanding of grant writing and management.
Supplemental Information
- Most work is sedentary though it may occasionally involve being on boats, UTVs, and walking on uneven terrain.
- Some in-state travel will be required.
