The Director of Data Systems supports the organization's demand efforts by ensuring timely, high-quality data is available for smooth operations. The role leverages data to provide business intelligence and insights into customer behavior and experiences. Additionally, the Director oversees the organization's data systems to ensure they are well-organized, secure, accurate, and accessible.

The Director of Data Systems supports the organization's demand efforts by ensuring timely, high-quality data is available for smooth operations. The role leverages data to provide business intelligence and insights into customer behavior and experiences. Additionally, the Director oversees the organization's data systems to ensure they are well-organized, secure, accurate, and accessible.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Technology & Data Strategy - Lead the design, development, and optimization of the company's data infrastructure to accelerate analytics, reporting, and business intelligence. Oversee the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new technologies to enhance system performance, scalability, and efficiency. Align technology investments with business objectives to drive digital transformation.
- Business Enablement & Collaboration - Partner with commercial, operational, and executive teams to expand and operationalize data usage, ensuring accessibility and alignment with evolving business needs. Provide strategic guidance on data-driven decision-making to enhance customer experiences, revenue growth, and operational efficiencies. Support enterprise-wide business use cases while maintaining compliance with legal, regulatory, and corporate standards.
- Data Governance & Quality Assurance - Establish and enforce robust policies for data collection, sharing, security, and compliance to maintain high-quality, reliable, and structured data. Ensure data integrity and accuracy across all business units by maintaining high standards for master data, including customer, product, and employee records. Develop scalable data management frameworks to support enterprise growth.
- System Performance & Security - Continuously monitor and evaluate data systems, troubleshooting issues, implementing upgrades, and optimizing hardware, software, and storage infrastructure. Proactively identify opportunities for enhancing system reliability, performance, and security. Ensure databases, archives, and digital assets are safeguarded against unauthorized access, breaches, and data loss.
- Architecture & Process Optimization - Review, design, and implement scalable data architectures, models, and system integrations to support business needs. Oversee database modifications and cloud-based data platforms (such as Azure Data Platform) to ensure seamless operations, high availability, and optimized performance. Drive continuous improvements through innovation, automation, and best practices.
- Leadership, Training & Team Development - Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of data professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation. Develop and implement training programs to educate employees on data governance, system usage, and best practices. Ensure stakeholders understand and adhere to established data standards, policies, and processes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Proven experience in data management, including collection, storage, analysis, and distribution.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and organize large datasets to drive business insights.
- Strong knowledge of database design, data modeling, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
- Experience in developing and managing master data management, governance, and data quality policies.
- Demonstrated ability to use data to drive commercial success and strategic decision-making.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills to address complex data challenges.
- Excellent ability to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms for diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Deep understanding of modern databases, information technologies, and emerging data trends.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, Data Analytics, or a related field (required).
- Master's degree (MBA or MS in Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field) preferred.
Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT, data management, business intelligence, or related technology fields.
- 5+ years in a leadership or executive role overseeing data infrastructure, technology strategy, or enterprise systems.
- Extensive experience in data analysis, data management, and master data management.
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Python, and Power BI for data analytics and reporting.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale data platforms, cloud technologies (Azure Cloud), and enterprise systems.
- Experience working with Dynamics 365 or other CRM systems (preferred).
- Strong track record in implementing data governance, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives to support strategic growth.
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams, managing vendors, and driving digital transformation efforts.
