Job Summary:
Join a cutting-edge research team focused on advancing vision science, optical metrology, and display technologies. As a Vision Scientist, you will play a key role in conducting literature reviews and designing experiments to evaluate optical performance and visual perception. You will collaborate with researchers, engineers, and external partners to ensure robust research design, data integrity, and high-throughput analysis of optical systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary research environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Execute workflows related to vision science research and optical metrology development, from planning to data analysis stages.
* Experience designing and conducting user studies to evaluate user behavior, preferences, and device usability
* Conduct thorough literature reviews to stay informed on the latest developments in vision science, optical metrology, and display technology.
* Design, execute, and analyze user studies to evaluate display performance, user experience, and visual artifacts.
* Perform statistical analysis on experimental and observational data, ensuring rigor and accuracy in results.
* Debug and troubleshoot equipment, algorithms, and experimental setups to resolve technical issues.
* Maintain and ensure the optimal functioning of metrology instruments and experimental apparatus, recognizing and addressing malfunctions.
* Document and escalate deviations from protocols or unexpected results to stakeholders while recommending corrective actions.
* Provide constructive feedback on workflows and actively participate in developing solutions to improve throughput, data quality, and process efficiency.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to integrate advanced analytical methodologies and improve optical metrology techniques.
* Adapt to schedule changes, shifting priorities, and occasional emergency scenarios as required.

- Analyze complex datasets using modern data analysis tools (Python, MATLAB, R, etc.) to extract meaningful insights.
- Work with researchers to refine analytical methodologies, correlate human perception metrics with optical performance, and optimize workflows.

Basic Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with optical metrology, vision science methodologies, or display characterization techniques.
- Strong background in experimental design, statistical analysis, and data interpretation.
- Ability to conduct and synthesize literature reviews to guide research direction.
- Experience with data analysis and visualization using tools such as Python, MATLAB, or R.
- Excellent organizational skills, record-keeping, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and best practices for handling sensitive equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to document and present research findings.
- PhD in Vision Science, Optical Engineering, Neuroscience, or a related field with 2-4 years of research or industry experience.
- Familiarity with high-throughput research methodologies and test automation
- Experience designing and conducting psychophysical experiments, visual perception studies, or human factors research.
- Background in machine vision, image processing, or computational modeling of vision systems.
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to cross-functional research initiatives.
- Experience with developing in Unity.
- Ability to set up eye tracking hardware and perform analysis.
