Overview

Lead the development and performance of a new collaborative nursing center of excellence in research, education, and workforce development.
Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Lead the development and effective operations of the center, including forming operating policies, managing budget and fiscal matters, providing internal and external communications, and fostering marketing and promotions. Develop and support an advisory board comprised of key nursing leaders and ensure their engagement to advance the center. Ensure the center is a pioneering hub and resource for broad collaboration among nurses and cross-disciplinary healthcare processionals and students. (20%)
  • Collaborate with nursing faculty and other healthcare professionals to develop novel educational programs to empower learning at every stage of career development - from aspiring nursing student to seasoned professional. Foster interdisciplinary collaborations across a wide variety of health and medical care providers and specialties, clinical research scientists, community health promotion specialists, and others. Incorporate a variety of formats and tools to deliver rich content and inspire new learning experiences. (20%)
  • Provide leadership to foster rigorous inquiry and discovery. Engage novice and experienced nursing researchers to explore the frontiers of nursing science, tackling complex challenges and generate evidence-based solutions that propel nursing practice forward. Support an environment where curiosity thrives, and new knowledge is cultivated among nursing faculty and students. (20%)
  • Seek opportunities to nurture the talents of nurses and cross-disciplinary health professionals, ensuring they gain experiences, skills, and knowledge to deliver exceptional care in a rapidly changing healthcare landscape. Support and strengthen a culture of continuous improvement in the healthcare workforce through innovative education initiatives, professional development opportunities, and strategic partnerships. (20%)
  • In conjunction with the office of sponsored projects and with similar offices at its partner sites, support the development of extramural nursing research grants and other sources of funding. Engage in efforts to secure foundation grants and engage philanthropic donors who are interested in supporting nursing faculty and students in original research and related scholarly projects. (10%)
  • Teach within their area of expertise in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences undergraduate or graduate curriculum, typically one class per semester. (10%)

  • MARGINAL DUTIES:
  • Perform all other duties as may be required.

  • Education and Experience

    • PhD or DNP in Nursing or related field from an accredited institution required.
    • Rhode Island nursing license or eligible for license.
    • Five to seven years' experience in nursing higher education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Ability to work effectively with faculty and staff as well external partners collaborating on various initiatives.
    • Effective written and verbal skills using correspondence that reflect professionalism, clarity, and concise ideas/thoughts.
    • Ability to prepare briefs and grant proposals.
    • Strong planning and organizational skills.
    • Organized and detail oriented to effectively track progress on goals and manage budget.
    • Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills.
    • Effective public speaker and event organizer/host, problem solver, and facilitator.
    • Ability to teach in an interdisciplinary college setting.
