Job Summary
The Primary Care LVN/Senior LVN utilizes the nursing process to assess and identify the individual needs of patients through observation of disease symptoms, emotional state, laboratory reports, cultural and socio economic background and response to medical regimen and treatment. Additionally, the Senior LVN is required to learn and apply the Patient Centered Medical Home Standards. In collaboration with the Medical Home health care providers, nurses, and medical assistants the Senior LVN will also assume clinical responsibility for administration of medications/vaccines, lab result review and monitoring, treatments and procedures pertinent to adult primary care such as ear irrigations, wound care and urethral catheterization, as well as patient education.
This individual will utilize their excellent customer service and communication skills on a daily basis via phone and electronic communication and personal contact with both internal and external customers. This employee will utilize computer skills in Epic/APeX and other UCSF computerized programs. This individual supports the standards of the policies and procedures of the practice, and is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of pharmacology and competency in modes of administration, and complies with all Ambulatory Services and Medical Center policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and administrative and clinical practice. The Sr LVN is required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center, as well as demonstrating UCSF's PRIDE values and the AIDET fundamentals of communication in all patient care.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $46.16 - $57.83 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Active Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of California
- Minimum of 3 years LVN experience in similar environment
- Active American Heart Association CPR certification
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position, including demonstrated excellent communication skills, problem-solving ability, and high comfort level with learning new technology/systems
- Basic computer/keyboarding skills
- Prior experience with electronic systems/records
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience using an Electronic Medical Record system
- Experience in a primary care or Women's Health outpatient clinic
License/Certification
- Active Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of California
