ETF Strategist Position

The ETF Strategist is responsible for the assisting with the development and execution of Northern Trust Asset Management's ETF lineup by working with the firm's innovation and product development capabilities.. The primary goal of this role is to grow the ETF product line to service Northern's clients to help achieve their investment goals. The ETF Strategist contributes to the team's product development efforts, as well as partnering with Investments, Product, Distribution and Marketing to successful market and grow the firm's ETF product lineup.

Major Duties:
  • Responsible for developing and positioning innovative investment product to be used across both external and internal channels.
  • Combine a strong understanding of the ETF marketplace with investment knowledge to develop thoughtful perspectives on where and how the ETF lineup is best equipped to compete
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive ETF competitive analysis capabilities focused on client and industry trends, flows and macroeconomic dynamics to aid in the development and growth of the ETF product lineup
  • Collaborate with Product, Investments and Distribution teams to seek insights, develop thought leadership and assist in the positioning and marketing of the FlexShares ETF lineup
  • Develop positioning points for all funds across the ETF product suite focused on both strategic long-term investment goals as well as in the current market environment, highlighting the product lineup's value proposition
  • Serve as an ETF and product expert to effectively communicate the differentiation and value-add of the FlexShares lineup to clients
  • Foster a culture of creativity and innovation within the product development working groups, encouraging fresh ideas and approaches

Knowledge:
  • Strong desire to grow product development and strategy skills, utilizing creativity and problem-solving skills needed to bring innovative ideas to life
  • Possess the ability to discuss investment concepts and the ability to effectively communicate a product strategy and explain complex technical concepts in simple terms
  • Strong understanding of investments
  • Grow written and verbal communication skills for external and internal presentations
  • Highly organized, detailed-oriented, able to work in fast paced environment
  • Can work effectively with a variety of functional groups across the organization and at varying levels, including Distribution, Investments, Marketing, Compliance and Product Operations

Experience:
  • A College or University degree and/or relevant work experience is required
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, a strong financial and investment management background, or ETF product knowledge
  • CFA designation or advanced degree preferred


Salary Range:
$80,800 - 133,400 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
