About the work environment:
Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start & end times.
We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver office. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.

You are a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in internal auditing, focused on ensuring the integrity of the business and related third parties such as Lending, Deposits, and more. You are passionate and have a solid understanding of key operational areas and business strategy within a financial institution. You are adept at identifying and mitigating risks, and your excellent communication skills enable you to effectively convey complex information to stakeholders at varying levels

Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary plus a discretionary profit share opportunity. In addition, we are pleased to offer employees both group benefits and the option to participate in our RRSP matching program, beginning the first day of employment. Salary for this position will vary between $80,000 and $100,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that the chosen candidate possesses. About you / qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE or CAMS (or willing to work towards certification while working).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in internal auditing, with a focus on regulatory compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of OSFI, CDIC, and/or FINTRAC requirements, and knowledge of other relevant banking regulatory requirements (e.g., Trust & Loan Companies Act, Bank Act, Consumer Protection, AMF legislations) will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of internal audit processes and risk-based approaches and methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with experience working with various stakeholders within an organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency with systems; Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; Intermediate to advanced level of - Excel (pivot tables, IF functions, Lookup functions).
- Adaptable, flexible, innovative, and responsive to change with an ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, and multi-entity environment.
- Experience with Audit Board is a plus.
About the day-to-day:
- Lead small to medium sized audit engagements to ensure compliance with regulatory standards within the operations of the organization, i.e., products, operations and sales and marketing.
- Conduct audit fieldwork and collect sufficient supporting documents, prepare working papers, actively participate in the process of identifying potential findings, drafting conclusions, revising and updating paperwork in a timely manner, and ensuring completeness/accuracy of all the working papers/documentation.
- Present observations to auditees and draft audit reports for senior management.
- Collaborate with various departments to identify and later validate implementation of audit recommendations.
- Apply internal audit standards, policies, and regulations to provide timely audit assurance and influence audit scope.
