Job Title: MRI Technologist
Job Specialty: MRI

License: ARRT (R) (MRI) certified or ARMIT with current registration required
Certifications: BLS via AHA required
Must-Have:
- Experience with Siemens and EPIC systems
- Pediatric experience
- Inpatient hospital experience
Job Description:
- Perform diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging of organs, organ systems, and blood flow studies.
- Provide radiologists with images necessary to obtain diagnostic results, ensuring a comprehensive diagnostic report is available to the referring physician.
- Orient physicians, residents, staff, and student technologists in the objectives and applications of magnetic resonance imaging and safety.
- Assist nursing staff, such as witnessing medication wastage and documenting in Pyxis.
Competencies:
- Education: Requires completion of an AMA-approved program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent, typically acquired through a two-year college or technical school program. Preferably, one year of experience in an imaging modality.
- Knowledge: Extensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathological processes with emphasis on neurologic, orthopedic, and cardiac physiology. Thorough knowledge related to anatomy, physiology, and pathology, as well as aseptic and sterile techniques. Knowledge of the physics involved to perform MRI exams and the use of all necessary equipment.
- Skills: High-level analytical and critical thinking skills are important for performing scans based on patients' history and protocols. Strong interpersonal skills are needed for instructing and orienting patients, physicians, medical staff, and students.
- Work Experience: Preferably, experience in a magnetic resonance training program with a clinical internship or one year of clinical imaging experience.
