GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Responsible for day-to-day clinical operations and acts as a liaison between departments to support medical operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In coordination with the Director, ensure a safe operational environment. Work closely with Human Resources, Risk Management, Safety and Legal Departments to manage and reduce risk and liability in all aspects of daily operations.
Assist in compiling QA data, key performance indicators and audits.
Collaborates with all service lines to ensure operational issues are addressed.
Responsible for hiring all medical staff.
Assists with coordinating large-scale projects including technological advances and implementation of additional services within Phoenix Air Group's Medical Division.
Assist in presenting marketing materials to internal and external customers.
In coordination with the Director, assist in new base and program startups to ensure a smooth transition with the company and customer.
Maintains all requirements as outlined in the Phoenix Air Flight Nurse description.
Assists with maintaining the staffing schedules for all medical personnel at all locations.
Responsible for orientation of all new employees.
Assists with management oversight of all medical staff.
Ensures medical staff compliance with all Clinical and Administrative Policies and Procedures.
Responsible for the management of medical equipment, medical supplies, medications, and all purchase requests directly related to Medical Operations.
Assist in the tracking and verifying of all worked, call and flight days for medical staff.
Collaborates with other related departments to ensure the successful execution of all aspects of monthly staff meetings.
Responsible for working with the Clinical Nurse Educator to ensure all medical staff are current with required certifications, competencies, educational requirements, and skills.
Assists the Director in collaborating with Phoenix Air management in the creation and management of the annual budget.
Monitors compliance with codes, standards and regulations including but not limited to those of local, state, and federal authorities, the accreditation of, as well as standards of Nursing Practice, Paramedic Practice, BLS, ACLS, PALS, TPATC.
Assists with development, review and evaluation of decisions effecting policies and programs, program planning and integration of company goals and objectives.
In coordination with the Director, responsible for management of controlled substance inventory control in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
Maintains compliance with all CLIA regulations related to Point of Care testing program.
Delegates duties to medical staff members to complete projects, streamline day to day activities or meet new objectives.
Mediates disputes between staff members and handles staff complaints or concerns
Fulfills duties delegated by Director.

SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree required
Master's degree preferred
State licensure as a registered nurse
Five years operational management/supervisory experience, preferably in the air medical/aviation industry preferred
Ten + years air medical transport experience
CMTE preferred
Must meet all minimum qualifications and requirements outlined in the Flight Nurse job description
Attains and maintains all certifications, licensure and competencies required in the flight nurse job description
Certifications (Pre-hire)

BLS, ACLS, PALS

CEN or CCRN or CFRN
Certifications (Post-hire)

TPATC required within one year of hire

FEMA ICS online training (100b, 700) within 3 months of hire
Computer literate
Must have valid US passport
Must be able to obtain security clearance

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires activities requiring a moderate amount of standing, sitting and walking, speaking, and listening; frequently using hands to key to input data and information.
Able to conduct activities requiring a moderate to rigorous amount of static pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting.
Capable of lifting 50 lbs. floor to bench height.
Ability to hear routine aircraft and medical equipment noises.
Must be able to wear a commercially available respirator mask with proper fit, when required.
Requires close and distant visual capability.
Ability to work in a 24-hour job environment.
Ability to perform duties in either indoor or outdoor environments. May be exposed to routine office noises, moderate electrical or mechanical hazards and frequent exposure to an aircraft environment with loud aircraft noise, fumes, gases, odors, dust particles and mechanical/electrical hazards.
The Assistant Director is physically based at the airport but will also perform work away from the base, at home and in customer facilities as required. Periodic business travel by car and aircraft will be required.
