NPI-9 provides NDA and other measurement functions in support of operations at the LANL Plutonium Facility. This is your chance to make a real difference by supporting important research and work execution directly impacting national security.
The NDA Research Technologist 1/2 will report to a Technical Support Staff (TSS) First Line Manager in the NPI-9 group, within the Nuclear Process Infrastructure Division. The NPI-9 TSS is responsible for a large variety of NDA processes and operates within multiple locations in the Plutonium Facility.
This position will be lled at either the Research Technologist 1 or 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Research Technologist 1 ($85,900 - $139,900)
The successful candidate will:
Assist other technologists, engineers, scientists and technicians to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot NDA equipment used for measuring special nuclear materials (SNM).
Perform in-eld measurements alongside TSS, supporting Production and Decontamination and Decommissioning (D&D) projects.
May act as a lead on/contribute to specic tasks that are part of a
larger project.
Keep current on the status of the NDA processes and technologies.
Assist with NDA equipment repair and maintenance at the LANL Plutonium Facility.
Contribute to the development, implementation, and completion of projects
Research Technologist 2 ($94,500 - $154,600)
In addition to what was outlined at the Research Technologist 1 level, the level 2 Research Technologist will:
Perform technical work requiring advanced knowledge within the area of NDA.
Communicate research and work execution results through internal reports.
Mentor technicians and entry level research technologists.

Compliance: Demonstrated experience in conducting scientic/engineering work while complying with ES&H requirements and using appropriate administrative controls, engineering controls, and personal protective equipment.
Qualications/Certications : Ability to obtain and maintain Q- clearance and Human Reliability Program (HRP) certication; Fissionable Material Handler (FMH) certication; and job specic worker qualications
Education/Experience at Level 1: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 2 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
