Role Description
Reporting to the Dean of College & Career Counseling and managing three direct reports, the Director of Pre-College and Career Support is tasked with leading the Pre-College and Career team as well as cultivating our pre-college going culture. They are responsible for equipping scholars with the knowledge, skills, and exposure necessary to engage fully with the college exploration, application and matriculation process.
Please note that this is a 12-month position.

Compensation for this position falls between $75,000 and $96,000 per year, which represents the average for staff in this role. Factors such as years of experience and skill sets may impact placement within, or outside, this range. A comprehensive compensation plan will include a competitive benefits package.

Role Description

Key Job Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Program Development
- Establish and execute a vision for Pre-College and Career Support aligned with the school's mission and commitment to anti-racism.
- Develop and oversee a 9-12 pre-college and career support program.
- Set long-term vision and goals for 9th-10th grade pre-college programming.
- Use student, school, and network data to inform student support strategies.
- Develop and oversee performance management systems and goal tracking.
- Hold team members accountable to core values
- Provide bi-weekly check-ins, clear communication, and professional development to team.
- Coach and manage the 9th Grade seminar program.
- Manage and oversee the senior internship program
- Serve as a 12th-grade counselor for a small cohort of students (~30).
- Oversee FAFSA, CSS Profile, and financial aid processes, ensuring completion by deadlines.
- Support POSSE and QuestBridge applicants through deadlines and application processes.
- Maintain relationships with colleges and external organizations
- Plan and execute key events: Summer of a Lifetime Family Nights
- Oversee budget allocation for the Pre-College & Career Support team.
- Prepare and present reports on department metrics and progress.
- Supervise the development of parent and student programming for college access and success.
- Attend evening and weekend events as required
- Participate in bi-weekly department meetings, weekly ILT meetings, and check-ins with the Dean of College Counseling.
- Lead professional development sessions for staff.
- Conduct summer strategic planning for pre-college programming.
Ideal Qualifications
- An unwavering belief that all students can succeed in high school, college, and lead exemplary lives
- Strong understanding of graduation rates for our students, fit factors, financing opportunities for all students profiles
- Proven track record of ambitious results in previous roles
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Impressive written and verbal communication skills with a variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to, students, parents, 12th grade advisors and teachers, leadership team
- Self-awareness, a regular practice of reflection, and a desire to continuously improve
- Highly organized, excellent follow through, attention to detail, and a belief that "sweating the small stuff" matters
- Experience as a full-time teacher
- Experience in college access work
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Eligibility to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Active Illinois Teaching License preferred, not required
