Job Description:

Summary

The Director, Commercial Field Force Excellence will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction, operational efficiency, and execution of the Oncology field sales organization. This position will partner closely with the Senior National Sales Director, Regional Business Directors, Marketing, Training, and other cross-functional stakeholders, with a focus on enabling and expanding the execution strategic sales initiatives.

This role upholds standards for a best-in-class field force customer engagement for US Oncology Business Unit. This will be accomplished by collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment across our organization, and by staying abreast of current industry trends and compliance guidance to ensure innovative ways of working.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, an effective communicator, and a proactive leader capable of managing complex projects and driving organizational success.

Main responsibilities / job expectations

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Serves as a strategic thought partner with the Senior National Sales Director, providing high-level executive support associated with complex problems, current and future initiatives, strategies, and budgets.
  • Plays a key role in providing field insights to support planning initiatives.
  • Enhance field analytics and tools to optimize field execution and customer engagement
  • Assist the Senior National Sales Director in day to day responsibilities, ensuring coordination of cross-organizational activity, for example preparing scripts/speeches in partnership with Communications, ensuring consistency and alignment of internal documents / presentations and representing the Senior National Sales Director at meetings and across the organization where appropriate
  • Leads US Oncology Sales Team, Extended Leadership Team, Leadership Advisory Group and Values & Growth Ambassadors meetings including agenda, action planning, tracking deliverables and KPIs
  • Demonstrates collaborative leadership and influence necessary to ensure alignment among key stakeholders and seamless execution of project deliverables.
  • Works with cross-functional leadership to ensure the strategic and operational plans are understood, delivered, and that launches are effectively implemented.
  • Works with Finance partners and US Oncology Business Unit leaders to ensure budget needs are clearly understood and met.
  • Builds and maintains mutually supportive relationships with all levels of management, staff, outside agencies, and vendors, when necessary. Works to remove barriers that hamper inter- and intra-department communications. Coordinates and monitors assignments which must be accomplished in conjunction with other senior executives.
  • Partners closely with HR and communications leaders on matters related to organizational design, structure, culture initiatives, employee experience surveys and organizational communications.
  • Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen U.S. staff.


Knowledge, abilities & experience
  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of related experience.
  • Experience as a field leader and Oncology sales experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing cross-functional projects with significant business impact
  • Excellent understanding of industry guidance and best practices
  • Experience with developing, reporting, and tracking field performance metrics
