Job Responsibilities

The person in this position will coordinate and/or assist in the development and/or revision of College and Career Ready Academic Standards and supporting materials for mathematics, primarily in secondary education. Develop, implement, and evaluate professional learning opportunities to improve the capacity of mathematics teachers, administrators, and district personnel to support student achievement. Collaborate with South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) teams, offices, divisions and external agencies, community organizations, colleges, and universities at state and national levels to ensure timely and effective support to all stakeholders. Engage in professional growth opportunities that contribute to the Office of Assessment and Standards' (OAS's) capacity to support and model effective practices to foster student learning. Other duties as assigned.

This position is located in the Office of Assessment and Standards.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and experience in education, management or business.
Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor's degree or higher in secondary mathematics with a minimum of five (5) years' teaching experience, experience in professional development and training for educators, leadership, and knowledge of current educational trends, research, and best practices in education. A master's degree with three (3) years of documented successful experience teaching mathematics. Experience with coaching, administration, and professional development facilitation is preferred. Experience teaching high school mathematics. Familiarity with mathematics courses, curriculum and effective instructional strategies.
