Osler is looking to add a dynamic and dedicated individual to join its Legal Talent Department as the Student Programs Manager. This is a unique opportunity for a junior lawyer who wants to play a pivotal role in shaping the early careers of aspiring lawyers in a culture which nurtures mentoring and the exchange of ideas.

Working closely with the Director, Student Programs and Legal Recruitment, the Student Programs Manager will oversee the day to operations of the Student Program in the Toronto office.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Managing the student program operations from end to end
  • Managing all employment matters as they arise for students, including licensing procedures, secondments, life events and application of the Firm's policies
  • Managing student rotation planning and the Firm's work allocation system
  • Acting as a point of contact for students and being knowledgeable to answer effectively
  • Overseeing the performance management process, including the facilitation of formal evaluations and the provision of continuous feedback throughout the year
  • Providing additional support to national projects as required


Position Requirements:

Education and Experience

The ideal candidate has a law degree and experience practicing in a large law firm, coupled with an appetite to acquire strong management and program implementation skills. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be acceptable.

  • Stays abreast of market trends for lawyers, trends in performance management tools and techniques, engagement and legal community and business trends
  • Understanding and respect for the Firm's culture and key elements of the firm's talent management programs


We are currently working in a hybrid work arrangement, which includes a requirement to work primarily in the office and flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
