General Description

The general function of the position within the organization is to perform complex advanced civil-engineering work related to hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
Essential Functions

  • Perform H&H Analysis, using HEC-RAS.
  • Floodplain Mapping, LOMA/LOMR Review (FEMA).
  • Local Flood prone areas. (Lake County Watershed Development Ordinance)
  • Assist with plan reviews and calculations to ensure compliance with the Watershed Development Ordinance, under general direction; maintain reviews within 30 days.
  • Assist the Chief Engineer at Technical Advisory Committee meetings.
  • All other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required

  • Requires education or training equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Requires 4 years of related experience. Requires considerable knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic modeling.
  • Requires a valid driver's license supplemented by a satisfactory driving record.
  • Requires possession of a certificate as a Registered Professional Engineer issued by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires light work involving standing or walking some of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular basis, and moderate dexterity in operating machinery, tools, or office equipment.
