FORGE-MDPAP is the next generation missile warning processing system for the US Space Force. The MDPAP Visualization team leverages web based, Unreal Engine, and backend data ingest and manipulation technologies to seamlessly present in-depth real-time sensor and event data visualization and analytics information to Space Force Guardians to prosecute a "no-fail" mission.

We are seeking a Software QA Engineer to serveon the Visualization subsystem of the U.S Space Force FORGE MDP/AP missile warning system. You will work closely with software development teams to ensure quality of the system through both procedural and exploratory testing and other quality efforts. This role will participate in the whole software development lifecycle from design through implementation and delivery.

Position location is on-site in Boulder, CO 5 days per week.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain and execute manual and automated test procedures.
  • Work within the team to support continuous improvement to testing processes.
  • Perform exploratory testing of the UI functionality, assessing usability and other emergent attributes of the system to ensure a high quality end product for the mission users.
  • Lead and/or participate in problem isolation and root cause analysis efforts within the system.
  • Maintain quality metrics such as defect rates and work with software development teams on wholistic strategies to remove/preclude defects from entering the system.
  • Interface with higher levels of integration teams (e.g. system, enterprise) as well as end users to represent the software quality and functionality.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years experience in quality assurance/test roles of high reliability/mission critical systems.
  • Adept at test design including both positive and negative functional testing, as well as performance testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose software issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • This position will require the ability to achieve a U.S. government DoD Secret security clearance.

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Currently active U.S. government DoD security clearance
  • Proficiency with the following tools/technologies:
    • K8s/OpenShift
    • Prometheus/Tempo/Grafana
    • Python
    • Automated test tools (e.g. Playwright, Cucumber)

The proposed salary for this position is:

$103,200-$172,000 USD
