Responsible to lead the process for the accurate consolidation and reporting of the Company's financial results in accordance with US GAAP. This role will be directly responsible for managing aspects of the external reporting process, including the preparation of our US GAAP financial statements. Responsible to join the internal technical accounting team to address technical accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance that impact the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the below-mentioned responsibilities as reasonably required by business needs.

  • Lead the company's external reporting process, which includes the preparation of the quarterly and annual financial statements and manage the internal and external review for these documents.
  • Manage the global consolidation of monthly financial results, including managing the intercompany reconciliation process to ensure proper elimination and researching and resolving data discrepancies.
  • Oversight of the invoicing and settlement of intercompany transactions.
  • Assist with key areas of the monthly closing process, such as revenue recognition, lease accounting and equity accounting.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax filings, including sales tax and corporate income tax returns.
  • Maintain and manage GL master data as well as the preparation and posting of journal entries.
  • Be a key member of the Financial close each month through ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Assist with technical accounting research and analysis to ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance, provide US GAAP interpretation and prepare technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical and comprehensive manner.
  • Manage communications with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting issues to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on accounting disclosures, and issues.
  • Support and review accounting for unique / one-time transactions and provide consultation to internal departments, when appropriate.
  • Support M&A activity and integration related projects, including purchase accounting as well as the related annual impairment testing.
  • Implement and maintain reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements.
  • Identify and implement operational process and internal control improvements as part of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop the skill sets of team members.
  • Complete other Ad Hoc requests, corporate initiatives, including finance transformation and other projects, as requested by Management.
  • Monitor and ensure both compliance with and documentation of compliance with Cynosure's policies and procedures as outlined in various Company policies, including the Global Approval Authority Matrix and other mandatory policies pursuant to one's job description.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree required

Specific Area of Study: Bachelor required, Masters preferred; Emphasis in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field of study

Experience

8 to 10 years relevant experience

Specific Related Experience: Mix of public and private accounting experience. Active CPA.

Skills
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and reporting skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required.
  • Experience with Revenue/ASC 606 is preferred
  • An excellent knowledge of US GAAP is required combined with the ability to research and propose company positions on complex accounting issues.
  • Must be highly organized, accurate and detail-oriented, ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously with the work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.
  • Experience with SAP and Adaptive Insights, a plus
