The Software Developer will be responsible for developing and enhancing the Cerity Partners team P&L engine, which provides teams with reporting on their practice, including clients, revenue, services, and more. This role requires a strong mix of software development, data management, business analysis skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams to ensure the system evolves to meet the firm's dynamic needs.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with evolving requirements, rapidly changing business rules, and multiple data sources to create high-value reporting solutions. Ideal candidates have deep Python and PostgreSQL experience alongside a familiarity with Salesforce.

Primary Responsibilities
- P&L Engine Development & Enhancement:
- Design, develop, and optimize the team P&L engine to support advisor practice reporting.
- Ensure integration of multiple data sources, including client, revenue, and service data.
- Implement scalable solutions that adapt to rapidly changing business rules and complex reporting needs.
- Data Management & Analysis:
- Work with structured and unstructured data to develop meaningful reporting solutions leveraging Python, PostgreSQL, and PowerBI.
- Identify patterns in flawed data and implement data alerting and cleansing solutions.
- Database & Cloud Development:
- Utilize SQL (PostgreSQL preferred) for data manipulation, joins, CTEs, and table design.
- Work with cloud-based systems like Azure to support scalable data architecture.
- Develop Python-based solutions for data integration and API connectivity.
- Business & Technical Collaboration:
- Work with stakeholders across all levels of the organization (including client facing colleagues) to refine reporting requirements.
- Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Support cross-functional teams in leveraging P&L data for decision-making.
- Salesforce & Excel Utilization:
- Understand and work with the Salesforce UI and data model.
- Develop advanced Excel reports leveraging pivot tables, XLOOKUP, and SUMIF functions.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in software development, preferably in financial or business reporting.
- Proficiency in SQL (PostgreSQL preferred), including table design and query optimization.
- Experience working with cloud environments such as Azure.
- Experience working with highly sensitive and confidential revenue data.
- Strong Python programming skills, particularly for data integration and automation.
- Experience working with Salesforce data and API integrations.
- Ability to manage and analyze large, complex datasets with acute attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
