PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Execute the monthly JIB process from pre-JIB review through JIB invoice distribution
  • Responsible for monthly rebill review and processing
  • Analyze transactions of higher complexity to determine appropriate accounting treatment
  • Calculate and prepare monthly drilling, completion, workover and producing overhead entries and other monthly JIB entries as needed
  • Maintain monthly allocations
  • Responsible for master data setup and maintenance of cost centers and AFEs, in collaboration with operations analysts and landmen
  • Perform first-level review of journal entries prepared by other staff members
  • Reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts and propose necessary adjusting entries
  • Serve as a resource or subject matter expert to peers and colleagues with less experience
  • Prepare, maintain, and develop more complex schedules, reports, and analysis for distribution to internal and external customers
  • Assist with analysis of actual vs budgeted amounts for specific expense categories
  • Investigate and understand unusual transactions
  • Collaborate with multiple departments as necessary
  • Assist with responding to joint venture audit and financial audit requests
  • Assist with the testing and implementation of ERP system updates
  • Other duties and projects as assigned


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
  • Proficient with MS Office applications, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills, such as pivot tables and lookups.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proactive and ambitious approach to looking at processes and systems to facilitate continuous improvement
  • Solid time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Knowledge of COPAS accounting principles and joint operating agreements
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to understand and learn new concepts quickly
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business-related field
  • Five (5+) or more years oil & gas experience in joint interest accounting and/or cost accounting preferred
  • Quorum or other ERP system experience preferred


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. The ability to use a computer or laptop for extended periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a professional office environment.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time exempt position in the Oklahoma City corporate office. Days and hours of work will vary due to workload and needs of the company.

TRAVEL:
Minimal travel is expected for this position.
