About the Role
As a Senior Reflector Materials Engineer, you'll shape the next generation of high-performance reflector technologies for our spacecraft. From pioneering thin-film coatings that maintain high reflectivity in low Earth orbit, to selecting lightweight composite substrates that can handle launch loads, you'll be the person who makes sure our reflectors deliver top performance in extreme conditions. Expect to engage in material characterization, testing, and close collaboration with mechanical and optical teams as you bring novel solutions from concept to flight.

About the Role
As a Senior Reflector Materials Engineer, you'll shape the next generation of high-performance reflector technologies for our spacecraft. Expect to engage in material characterization, testing, and close collaboration with mechanical and optical teams as you bring novel solutions from concept to flight.
Responsibilities
- Define and refine materials requirements for high-reflectivity structures (coatings, composites, films)
- Research and qualify cutting-edge materials that balance weight, reflectivity, and durability
- Work with design engineers to incorporate materials knowledge into CAD models and structural analyses
- Plan and execute testing campaigns, from coupon-level tests to full-scale prototypes
- Drive supplier relationships to secure high-quality materials and services
- Provide best practices for handling, processing, and integrating advanced materials in a production environment
Ideal Qualifications
- Deep expertise in materials science or chemical engineering, with a focus on advanced composites and/or thin films
- Hands-on experience with vacuum chamber testing, environmental qualification, or optical performance measurements
- Proven ability to select and validate materials for high-reliability, weight-sensitive applications
- Strong track record of collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams (mechanical, optical, thermal)
- Familiarity with spacecraft or satellite materials requirements is highly desirable
