Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting an Investment Officer to join our Investment Research Group ("IRG"). IRG is responsible for leading the research effort that guides recommendations on capital allocation (manager selection and asset allocation) and takes primary responsibility and accountability for the investment performance of the PB model portfolios associated with those recommendations.
The Investment Officer will operate as a generalist, helping to source and diligence investment managers across asset classes and will work closely with the heads of investment research and the CIO. Ongoing monitoring of existing managers within the BBH PB portfolio is another key aspect of the position as the Investment Research Group takes pride in maintaining strong ties to its managers. In addition to investment manager research and monitoring, the Investment Officer will help to mentor a team of Investment Analysts. This position will also assist in crafting periodic commentaries on portfolio performance and positioning as well as other thought pieces.

$130,000-$160,000

Some of your key responsibilities include:
- Investment Analysis
- Participate in the existing manager due diligence process through conference calls, manager interviews, and on-site manager visits.
- Source prospective managers for BBH PB client portfolios through industry network and connections.
- Conduct both quantitative and qualitative analysis on manager portfolios and holdings using Excel, Bloomberg, and other 3rd party software.
- Track ongoing themes and developments in manager portfolios and organizations to ensure consistent implementation of investment philosophy, proactively flagging potential areas of concern.
- Assist analysts in preparation of quarterly commentaries on market and investment manager performance, portfolio positioning and manager outlook.
- Relationship Management
- Build and maintain relationships with investment managers, other LPs, placement agents, and prime-brokers.
- Support PB Relationship Managers by providing information related to BBH PB policy portfolios and investment managers and participate in client meetings as needed
- Reporting
- Assist in the production and distribution of quarterly and monthly analysis and reporting.
- Assist in the creation of articles, as well as client and prospect marketing materials
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, MBA or CFA a plus
- 4-8 years of relevant investment or asset management experience including experience with manager selection and due diligence, preferably across asset classes
- Strong financial acumen and risk analysis skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage complex projects and to parallel process multiple projects
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment with a commitment to success
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
- Advanced Excel skills with financial modeling preferred
