We Transport / Towne Bus is a premier Long Island-based school bus company serving districts throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties, New York City, Westchester County, and Bridgeport, Connecticut.
A major part of our company's repertoire includes special needs transportation and services for wheelchair-bound individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
Billing Management:
- Oversee all billing processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with contracts.
- Develop and implement standardized billing practices across the organization.
- Work with cross-functional teams to improve billing systems and reduce errors.
Process Improvement, Technology, and Compliance:
- Identify opportunities to streamline billing and revenue processes using technology and automation tools.
- Lead the transition to new billing systems or technology upgrades, providing training and guidance to the billing team to ensure smooth adoption of new technology and processes.
- Leverage Excel and other software to enhance reporting and data analysis capabilities.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to address system issues, align on best practices, and assess emerging technology solutions that may enhance billing operations.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of billing and collections professionals, ensuring they have the resources and knowledge required to perform efficiently.
- Conduct performance evaluations, set individual and team goals, and foster a collaborative environment.
- Facilitate ongoing professional development and training for team members.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
Cash Collections and Accounts Receivable Management:
- Monitor and manage the aging of accounts receivable balances.
- Ensure timely application of cash receipts to invoices, reducing outstanding accounts receivable balances.
- Develop strategies to minimize overdue accounts and bad debt.
- Develop and oversee cash collection strategies to ensure timely payments from customers, improving the company's cash flow and minimizing days sales outstanding (DSO).
- Monitor outstanding accounts receivable and work with the billing team to prioritize and follow up on overdue accounts, implementing structured communication strategies to ensure prompt resolution.
- Prepare and present reports on AR performance to leadership.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Assist in developing revenue budgets and forecasts.
- Analyze billing data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on billing activities, revenue, and outstanding accounts.
- Conduct detailed revenue variance analyses, identifying key trends and opportunities for growth.
- Develop and present reports for management, providing actional insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
- Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in billing, accounts receivable, or revenue operations.
- Proven track record of managing cash collections and optimizing accounts receivable.
- Experience with acquisitions and onboarding new entities is a plus.
- Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of billing systems and process automation tools.

- Technological aptitude, including experience with billing platforms and reporting tools.
