Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse
Job Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room Nurse
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Rotating Shift
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience
License: Must hold an unencumbered Registered Nurse license from the North Dakota Board of Nursing or Compact State Agreement prior to start date
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association prior to start date
Must-Have: Temporary RN license accepted prior to start
Job Description:
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients on the assigned unit.
- Facilitate the coordination of patient care within the interdisciplinary care team.
- Provide patient education to assure safe patient discharge.
- Perform daily rounds on all patients ensuring quality customer service by coordinating and addressing any unmet requirements.
- Develop a care plan based on assessment that reflects the patient's physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, and rehabilitative needs.
- Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs, set goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions, including discharge planning.
- Assess, intervene, and reassess the patient's symptoms of pain promptly and take appropriate action.
- Identify early warning signs of a change in a patient's condition and respond appropriately.
- Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patient conditions.
- Report observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate multidisciplinary team member and record those observations accurately and concisely.
- Ensure timely interventions or referrals as needed.
- Complete and submit all incident reports (patient, visitor, staff) before the end of each shift.
- Establish and maintain communication and utilize educational opportunities with patients and significant individuals.
- Begin discharge planning and appropriate education and counseling based on identified needs.
- Evaluate and document according to standard procedure.
- Delegate nursing interventions within the scope of practice, education, and experience to other competent persons.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed to meet department/organization needs.
Note: This position does not require holiday coverage or bilingual skills.
