At Dycom Industries, as a Counsel, Employment Law, you'll be responsible for providing advice and counsel on a wide variety of employment related matters and workplace issues to Human Resources, executive management and business clients at our various subsidiaries. You will also provide litigation management and support to external counsel on all employment related matters, and when needed, be the responding attorney on matters managed internally. This is a hybrid role and you will have to report to the office 4 days a week. Candidates must reside within 30 miles of downtown West Palm Beach, FL.

What you'll do as a Counsel, Employment Law
  • Providing quick, concise, and commercially-focused legal advice relating to all US employment-related laws and
    legal issues, including but not limited to FLSA, Title VII, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, and Davis Bacon Act compliance
  • Ensuring compliance with state and federal employment and labor laws, company policies, directives and
    operating procedures, including, but not limited to, discipline, performance management, reorganizations,
    leaves of absence, accommodations, wage and hour issues, terminations, compliance training, background
    checks, non-compete matters, contingent workforce issues, due diligence for acquisitions and divestitures, and
    outsourcing agreements by serving as legal business partner to Human Resources professionals and
    management to advise
  • Conducting and/or assisting with investigations relating to employee concerns
  • Providing advice regarding potential employee disciplinary action
  • Managing federal and state litigation, administrative agency proceedings (e.g., EEOC, DOL, etc.), and arbitrations involving employment law matters, including management of outside counsel
  • Conducting ongoing management training regarding employee relations best practices, investigation techniques, and compliance
  • Drafting and negotiating employment-related agreements (contractor, confidentiality, non-competition, separation, etc.)
  • Conducting wage and hour audits, advising on independent contractor classifications, temporary employee status, and exempt employee classifications
  • Overseeing responses to subpoenas
  • All other duties as assigned


What you'll need
  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • 3+ years of experience practicing employment law in a large law firm and/or in-house. Preferred: Experience
    working with construction and/or manufacturing companies, or work with a predominantly hourly based,
    mobile workforce, as well as a combination of law firm and in house experience
  • JD from an ABA accredited law school, excellent academic credentials, and an active license to practice law in at
    least 1 state
  • Significant experience with FLSA and state wage and hour law compliance
  • Experience with all other areas of employment law including, but not limited to Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, and
    Davis Bacon Act. Labor law and ERISA experience are a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to evaluate legal risks, solve problems, and offer practical business solutions
  • Responsive, self-motivated attorney with strong work ethic, proven leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and prioritize
    workflow
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with diverse
    individuals at all levels and areas within the organization
  • Flexibility for limited travel
