Description:
The Design Engineer shall be responsible for managing a small team of drafters and engineers to develop and seal construction and permitting drawings for a variety of wireless telecommunications infrastructure and facilities.

Candidate Description:
The ideal candidate should be able to process sites quickly, and apply solutions to multiple projects in quick succession, taking lessons learned and applying them across other towers/locations in the portfolio. Telecom experience a plus but not required; this is a small but established team with a support system. AutoCAD experience a plus, or willingness to learn - CAD work will primarily be done by drafters, but position is much more dynamic if engineer can apply quick fixes or supplement drafting. Much of the role will be compiling information from previous drawings, pictures, and various documents and putting together a concisely scoped construction document to be used by both construction, and as record of work. Job is fully remote, (HQ is in Austin, TX). Culture and work-life balance are important to the team and we are looking for a good fit; someone who is motivated/excited to help the team, and also is enjoyable to work with. We are a family owned company of approx. 100 people, and engineering team is 8-10; would prefer someone with an interest in helping shape the future of the team, and join in direction and growth.

Essential Job Functions:
- Driving priorities and allocating resources managing projects among a team of drafters and engineers or EIT's in preparing construction drawings, site plans, zoning drawings, and lease exhibits as required to facilitate the installation or removal of telecommunications equipment. These projects may include new builds, collocations on existing structures, rooftops, water tanks, etc. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engineering decision making, personnel management and client communication. Will also give direction on templates and final requirements to drawings as well as the final determination on completed signed and sealed drawings.
- Work with a team of cross-disciplinary engineers to complete holistic drawing packages (structural, civil, electrical), and support others within your field as necessary. Learn and apply concepts from a wide-range of disciplines.
- Interpret historical as-built or record drawings as needed when site walks are not able to be performed or when certain information is not feasibly obtainable in field. Examples include: underground public utility infrastructure or existing structural systems in buildings.
- Understand and implement supporting documentation and reports from manufacturers and third-party engineering firms.
- Design construction permitting drawings to include the following items:
- Title page
- Overall and detailed site layout plans
- Equipment Installation and Construction details
- Electrical and grounding plans and details
- Construction notes
- Any additional details, as required by client or the local jurisdiction
- Coordinate and work with site acquisition consultant, RF, and other related parties, both inter-company and client interaction.
- Engineers are expected to work within their drafting team as well as within the department as a whole. Providing suggestions to standardize or optimize company practices and procedures is encouraged (both engineering department and KGI wide).
Requirements:
- P.E. Licensure and ability to receive licensure in multiple states
- 3-5+ years in Engineering experience
- Experience leading and directing a team of EIT's and Drafters (optional/preferred)
- Experience in the telecommunication industry (Optional/Preferred)
- Experience using AutoCAD (Optional/Preferred)
- Experience dealing with multiple client contacts, overseeing execution, and meeting requirements and deadlines while communicating status updates with clients in a timely manner and in the method required per client
Working Conditions:

- Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time
- May be occasionally required to work before and/or after normal business hours, in order to meet client deadlines
