The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Performs computed tomography (CT) exams by following and verifying referring providers' orders and remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences department and all governing bodies. This position serves as a preceptor in the on-boarding of newly hired Technologists directly orienting to equipment, imaging routines and procedures, computer programs and software, as well as departmental and hospital policies. This position is considered a subject matter expert in downtime procedures and acts as super-user when new equipment or programs are introduced to the department. Independently is responsible for performing I-stats, pregnancy tests, starting IV's, scanning patients in a safe and efficient manner, Injecting IV contrast, preparing oral contrast, completing all associated paperwork and computer work, and discharging the patient from the CT department with appropriate post CT instructions. May be designated as a Lead to support operations on various shifts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Identifies patient service requirements. Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Prepares patient for radiological/CT procedures by positioning patient, adjusts immobilization devices, moves equipment into specified position, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors. Performs procedures by following and verifying referring provider's orders.
- Applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.
- Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them, with other pertinent patient information, for timely interpretation.
- Prepares and maintains accurate documentation. Maintains production and quality of CT images by following established standards, orders, protocols and procedures.
- Practices radiation protection techniques (ALARA) using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors and automatic exposure controls.
- Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements.
- Troubleshoots and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
- Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Adheres to safety policies.
- May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology and 4 years of progressively responsible professional work experience as a specialist in Computed Tomography in a clinical or hospital environment required
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1 year experience in the URMC Imaging Sciences Department preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist -current NYS licensure upon hire required and
- ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with CE credits upon hire required
