The Position

The Financial Systems Engineer (FSE) position will reside within the Firms Business Solutions & Innovations Department and will be the technical lead responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration of the firms' financial system. This role requires an in-depth understanding of the Aderant software, with an expertise in Aderant's database architecture, and solutions suite. The FSE will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining financial system reports, billing templates, and customizations, as well as, performing system audits, and analyzing financial system processes. The FSE is expected to lead resolution efforts resulting from end-user error, system integrations, month-end close, etc., as well as collaborate with firm stakeholders, department leadership, SME's, internal and external IT resources, for application development needs. The FSE will be responsible to develop and maintain technical financial systems documentation, resulting from all production issues, system enhancements or actionable items, in accordance with industry and firm best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Comply with IT change management methodology and policy.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure successful and timely completion of projects.
  • Collaborate with the project management function to ensure successful and timely completion and delivery of projects.
  • Ability to multi-task and successfully manage numerous projects and tasks concurrently
  • Expert communicator with exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Stable work history with at least 2 years average duration per employer, few breaks in employment, and with progressively increasing career responsibility
  • Experience performing business change management
  • Solution-oriented with strong leadership skills and a passion for excellence
  • Substantiated experience raising the bar and cultivating high performance work environments

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of recent experience supporting the Aderant financial system at a law firm or another professional services organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, finance, accounting, or equivalent work experience
  • Highly proficient in Aderant Expert, including Classic (AppShell), Expert Framework app., Aderant DocuDraft and Expert Image
  • Solid understanding of the Aderant backend SQL data model and ability to interpret/write complex queries
  • Proven expertise in financial concepts and workflows, including time entry, billing, AP, cash receipts, etc.
  • Knowledge of the Aderant backend SQL data model and ability to interpret/write complex queries
  • Familiarity with peripheral applications, including ChromeRiver, Intapp, BillBlast, ARCS, etc.
  • Knowledge of Power BI is a plus
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python, or Java is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
