Job Summary
Prepares patients for surgery and procedures utilizing the ASC's patient selection criteria to assess and care for the patient. Recovers patients after the procedure or surgery. Participates in procedural sedation cases. Knowledge and experience in the care of patients who have received sedation, regional anesthesia and/or general anesthesia. Experience with care of patients emerging from all forms of anesthesia and the risks associated. Experience with Aldrete scoring and discharge criteria. Experience in an ambulatory surgery is essential. The pre-op and PACU RN works both in pre-op and post-operative phase one and two recovery.
The nurse will work at all UCSF locations and ambulatory surgery sites including the UCSF Orthopaedic Institute.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $84.78 - $109.85 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Three (3) years' experience in area of specialty of PACU with experience in recovering specifically ambulatory surgery patients in an ambulatory surgery setting.
- Must have experience with general, regional, and local anesthesia recovery of patients.
- Must be able to work variable days/shifts including closing shift.
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
License/Certification
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
- ACLS
- PALS
