Role description:

Mobility Canada is looking for a Lead Cost Controller to join our growing project controls team. The successful candidate will be experienced in leading the cost control function on major projects, including within the Design & Engineering Sector.

Role accountabilities:

Reporting to the Project Commercial Lead and Project Manager, the Lead Cost Controller's responsibilities will include setting up cost systems such as Unifier/ Oracle, monitoring and managing the timesheet systems, and prepare and produce for management approval KPI (CPI/EV) metrics and graphics. You will be responsible for understanding Contract allowable and disallowable costs, processing and verify invoices in a timely and accurate manner, and classifying costs accurately in order to prepare financial reports & assist with month end and year end duties as required. You will monitor accounts receivable and payable, prepare estimates for minor scopes of work for review by the Project Manager, and maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders. You will identify and resolve project control issues, proposing solutions to address problems in coordination with other project control team members and assist in setting up a major project, including sub consultancy agreements, processes, management plans, reports, KPI metrics.

This role is Major Project/ Program based, working closely with the Project Director and Commercial Lead to provide leadership in all areas of cost management. You will be expected to collaborate with project team all commercial maters, mentor and guide junior team members on cost management, and leverage expertise in CCDC, FIDIC or other standard forms of contracts to ensure compliance and project success. You will facilitate commercial matters; monthly cost and value analysis and reporting (client and business), project controls and monitoring (CPI/EV), administering sub consultancy agreements, payments, invoicing, reviewing and preparation of claims; record keeping, validate data, demonstrate and prove time and costs, measure, quantify, submit. Additionally you will actively contribute to and provide best practice commercial management leadership to the Performance Excellence Group.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or similar
  • Membership in recognized professional bodies (e.g., PQS, MRICS, MIOB) is preferred
  • Experience working in Canada, the UK, Australia or the Middle East is a must
  • 5-8 years' experience in cost control or project controls
  • Knowledge of scheduling software, namely Primavera (P6) and an ability to assess the cost and schedule impacts of design or construction changes and associated cost increases and or schedule slippages
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment demonstrating excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Contracting and consulting background preferable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The salary range for this position is $89,000 - $134,400. The base salary represents Arcadis' hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
