The person hired into this position may request to work the majority of their work hours remotely and will be required to report occasionally to our downtown Madison location to meet business needs. In the event of an emergency, this position is required to be onsite at the GEF1 headquarters ( 201 E. Washington Ave. ) within approximately one hour of notification.

Position Summary
This position is responsible for the planning, development and administration of the very complex programs of the Bureau of General Services (BGS). The bureau provides general administrative services in the areas of facilities management, leasing, incident command/emergency management, fleet vehicles, asset management, central mail operations and document scanning. As a member of the division management team, the BGS bureau director is a key participant in division strategic and operational planning, ongoing customer and employee relations efforts, and general management activities. This position is also responsible for BGS operating budget development and management, staffing and employee supervision, bureau program policy and procedure development and management, bureau continuity of operations planning and statewide contingency planning for bureau service disruptions.

Salary Information
Starting pay is between $107,120 and $120,910 per year, depending on qualifications, plus an exemplary benefits package :

The classification title for this position is DWD Manager (schedule 81, range 01). A two-year Career Executive trial period will be required. This position is considered exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan in effect at the time of appointment. Starting pay may vary for current state employees.

Travel: occasional in-state travel will be required.
Remote work: Employees with approved remote and hybrid-remote work arrangements are generally expected to work within the state of Wisconsin. High-speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work. Remote work options are subject to change.

Finalists for this position may be required to allow DWD to conduct a background check or other checks to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. You need to have the following experience:
*Serving in a formal supervisory role (hiring, evaluating, developing, disciplining, etc.).
*Coordinating building operations activities related to owned and leased facilities (e.g. HVAC, plumbing, electrical, air quality, lighting, etc.).
*Responding to emergent issues that impact business operations.
*Communicating and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
Any of the following experience would be nice to have:
*Serving in a management role overseeing multiple programs, including management of operational budget and day-to-day operations.
*Leading or overseeing complex facilities projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, communications and timeline management.
*Providing leadership related to Continuity of Operations planning.
*Leading strategic and operational planning efforts to accomplish organizational objectives.
