Job Description
Job Title: Rehabilitation Therapy - Physical Therapy Assistant
Job Specialty: Physical Therapy Assistant
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 8-hour days
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 1 year in outpatient physical therapy
License: Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant
Certifications: BLS/BCLS certification required through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
Must-Have:
- Team player attitude
- Flexibility
- Experience in a fast-paced environment
- Successful completion of at least two 13-week travel assignments
- Two references (one must be from a current manager), a resume, and a completed skills checklist/competency assessment
Job Description:
- Treat patients using a variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of physical function and developmental disorders.
- Primarily handle outpatient orthopedic adult cases, but also include neuro outpatient and some orthopedic pediatric cases.
- Work closely and communicate regularly with physical therapists.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan of patients served.
- Oversee and ensure a comprehensive rehabilitation program designed to meet the physical, psychosocial, and immediate environmental well-being of the patient.
- Promote patient/caregiver self-determination by optimizing outside resource utilization to achieve the highest level of independence.
- Coordinate and communicate with various disciplines or services involved in patient care.
- Coordinate efforts toward discharge goals established at initial evaluation and during the episode of care.
- Serve as a patient advocate.
Additional Information:
- Shifts start between 0800-0830; no weekends, holidays, or call.
- Travelers are the first to float within the facility and to alternate locations within 20 miles of the assigned location.
- If required to float, travelers will support local outpatient rehab facilities.
- Orientation is in the first week of the contract, not exceeding 40 total hours, and includes EPIC training.
- No holiday requests for time off will be approved for travelers.
- Travelers must not have been an employee of the healthcare system for 12 months from the last day worked to be considered for a travel position.
