Under general supervision, oversee slope stability management functions including pit slope, stockpile stability and serve as resource for Geomechanical information and analysis.
Senior Geomechanical Engineer Responsibilities
- Provides geomechanical project oversight and review relating to outside consultants, pit slope water control, structural geology, design slope angles and interfacing with mine design and planning.
- Reviews slope stability data collection, analysis and remedial work including slope monitoring data processing, rock strength parameters, geologic structures, slope control blast designs, and slope angle reviews.
- Communicate accurate, timely and relevant slope stability and geomechanical information to mine and site personnel.
- Conduct and communicate the results of inspections of pit walls, stockpiles, and site access roads.
- Proactively seek improvements to the safe mining of mine reserves relating to slope monitoring, slope maintenance, slope and catch bench designs, blasting, geomechanical data acquisition and analyses.
- Assists with the development, maintenance and implementations of strategic plans to enhance the mine's slope stability program.
- May represent the site on company sponsored steering teams related to geomechanical or mine slope stability efforts.
- Overall property slope management functions for pit slopes, and stockpiles.

- Develop, maintain and implement strategic plans to enhance the mine's slope stability program.
- Usage of appropriate software (MS Office, AutoCAD) and Geotechnical data analysis, Mintec's MineSight (or equivalent)
- Perform other duties as required.
Senior Geomechanical Engineer Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline?and?five (5) years of Engineering experience in hard rock mining relating to rock mechanics and rock slope stability,?OR
- Master's degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline?and?three (3) years of Engineering experience in hard rock mining relating to rock mechanics and rock slope stability
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of Engineering
- Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- M.S. Degree in Mining, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering with a minimum 7 years of experience in hard rock mining relating to rock mechanics and rock slope stability.
