Inspection Supervisor (1st Shift)

Position Description

Reporting directly to the Level III NDT Program Manager, the Weld Inspection Supervisor at Rhoads industries is responsible for performing and coordinating VT inspection activities during each shift. Inspection supervisors work closely with the Operations, Engineering and Quality departments to resolved weld quality issues and improve first time quality. The ideal candidate is an AWS CWI with at least 5 years of inspection experience and a working knowledge or current/previous certification in other nondestructive testing methods such as PT, MT, UT, RT or ET. Individuals with DoD/NAVSEA experience with technical publications: 271, 278, 1688, 1689 & 2035 are strongly encouraged to apply.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspection of final & in process weld in accordance with applicable procedures and specifications.
• Work with Welding/Operations to eliminate and prevent weld quality issues
• Ensure timely, accurate and detailed reporting of VT inspection results and other quality issues as needed.
• Oversee VT inspection activities across multiple areas of the shop floor.
• Administer on the job training and instruction to junior inspectors
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education:

HS school diploma or equivalent is required

Qualifications:

• US Citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain Personnel Security Clearance.
• Must have flexibility to work 1st or 2nd shift as needed.
• Fully competent in using various software tools including Microsoft Word, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple tasks.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a welder and/or welding inspector
• Valid AWS CWI & CWE Certifications (preferred)
• 5-10 years performing Visual Weld Inspection as CWI, VT Level II or equivalent for both structural & pipe welding.
• NAVSEA/DoD experience preferred
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings
• ASNT SNT-TC-1A NDT Level II certifications a plus (PT, MT, UT, RT, ET)

Physical Demands

• Ability to work in construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.
• Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, crawling and working from heights and/or in confined spaces.
• May require walking and standing on irregular, uneven surfaces in an industrial setting and possibly at increased heights climbing and descending ladders and ship stairways.

Pay Range: $45 - $55 per hour
