Position: Controller

We are seeking a Controller to lead and oversee financial operations, reporting, and strategic planning. This role is critical in ensuring financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth. The Controller will collaborate closely with Teamshares (parent company), the onsite bookkeeper, store leadership, and external partners to maintain strong financial controls and reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting:
  • Lead general ledger, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting functions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports at both store and consolidated levels.
  • Prepare financial analyses to assess store performance, profitability, product movement, and trends.
  • Collaborate with leadership on strategic financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and operational improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and financial best practices.
  • Assist with year-end audit requests from KPMG (Teamshares-level).

Accounting Operations:
  • Oversee A/R, A/P, billing, inventory accounting, fixed assets, and revenue recognition.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and accruals.
  • Document and enhance financial policies, processes, and controls to improve efficiency.

Risk Management & Compliance:
  • Develop and implement internal control policies.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities to support business growth.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA preferred, but not required.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting and financial reporting.
  • Experience in inventory accounting is a must.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and familiarity with ERP, payroll, and POS systems.
  • Strong knowledge of accrual accounting and US GAAP.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
  • Highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Enthusiastic, adaptable, and eager to take initiative and drive process improvements.
