Position Responsibilities may include:
  • Defines and coordinates the development of routing standards that are both as accurate as possible but also realistic to sustain as processes change and improvement projects take effect. Requires knowledge of best practices in manufacturing and how these processes are both interconnected and interdependent upon each other.
  • Ensures that the team of Industrial Engineers process ECRs and maintain the routings per the established standards. Requires expert understanding of Routings and Bills of Materials and how they are both foundational to the ERP system.
  • Coordinate and manage the team's work both internal to the team and external with other departments to ensure on-time completion of tasks and projects.
  • Design various capacity analysis methods as needed to account for the latest forecasted demand, upcoming new product designs and the associated Phase In and Phase Out, current and new equipment, performance etc.
  • Coach and train the team on how to store, retrieve and manage the necessary data for capacity planning via the team's SQL database. Ensure best practices are followed for the management of the SQL database and its procedures, jobs, views, etc.
  • Report out to leadership on the key takeaways from the various analyses performed by the team for capacity, operational planning, routings etc. Will require being both a strategic and tactical communicator and able to summarize complex data and analysis into simple conclusions.
  • Establishes continuous improvement goals and executes action plans.
  • Participate in additional projects to support ongoing business needs.

Nature & Scope:
  • Ensures work is aligned with the Director's expectations, goals, and vision
  • Accountable for implementation of policies, processes, and procedures for short-term results
  • Decisions and problem-solving are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from Senior Manager/Director
  • Works on difficult to moderately complex issues and projects
  • Provides guidance and training to subordinates
  • Has authority to hire, recommend pay, establish performance and recommend for termination
  • Level of signing authority established by company policy/guidelines

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Knowledge of how processes are interconnected and interdependent through the plant. Acknowledged expert in multiple disciplines regarding processes and analyzing them.
  • Able to design various capacity analysis methods as needed. Can coach others on how to get the necessary data via SQL. Practiced in designing SQL procedures.
  • Complete understanding of Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery Metrics.
  • Knowledge of best practices in manufacturing.
  • Expert understanding of Routings and BoMs and how they are both foundational to the MRP system.
  • Strategic and tactical communicator. Can represent the department for companywide goals and initiatives as needed.
  • Software skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & SQL.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills - both oral and written
  • Effective project management skills
  • Strong Interpersonal skills and ability to work with teams

Experience:
  • 8 plus years of experience in manufacturing, logistics and/or warehouse design and/or, process improvement. Led various projects, analyses, or studies (i.e. Kaizen, capacity, time-study etc.)

Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or related field required
  • MS in a related field is a plus
  • Professional industry certifications are a plus (i.e. Project Management, SQL, Six Sigma, etc.)
