Description
This position is ideal for hands-on mechanical engineers with experience in 3D Printing to join the Technology Development team as a Mechanical and Maintenance Engineer, helping to build the next generation of the world's largest additive manufacturing operation. Partnering with print process engineers, manufacturing, and R&D teams, you'll provide development and machine maintenance support to drive step change improvements in Align's new manufacturing initiatives. This role is critical in driving scalability of Align's new manufacturing processes, producing new products

Description

Role expectations
- Develop maintenance procedures for new 3D printing and post-processing equipment and processes
- Recommend design changes to equipment to improve machine uptime, consistency, cost
- Troubleshoot advanced 3D printing build failures and implement reliable fixes/corrections to improve yield in future builds
- Execute preventive maintenance procedures to ensure high uptime for all advanced development equipment
- Execute service and repair when equipment issues arise
- Lead troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis for mechanical systems
- Collaborate closely with 3D Printing Process Engineers to run experimental test builds, process parts through end-to-end manufacturing flow, and perform measurements and front-end experimental analysis
- Collaborate with machine vendors to maintain and improve advanced additive manufacturing systems
- Operate advanced additive manufacturing equipment
What we're looking for
- Experience: 5+ years experience in advanced equipment maintenance.
- Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Skills: hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment
- Communication: strong oral communication skills in English
- Teamwork: ability to work collaboratively with other process engineers in a shared lab space, as well as with cross-functional team members across multiple locations globally
