POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Corporate Tax Specialist is responsible for assisting in the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns, providing tax compliance support, and conducting research on tax-related matters. This role requires a strong understanding of corporate tax law, regulatory compliance, and the ability to analyze financial data to ensure accurate tax reporting. The Corporate Tax Specialist will work closely with senior tax professionals to support the company's tax strategy and ensure timely and accurate tax filings.

Base Salary Compensation Range: $75,000 - $90,000
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Corporate Tax Specialist is responsible for assisting in the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns, providing tax compliance support, and conducting research on tax-related matters. This role requires a strong understanding of corporate tax law, regulatory compliance, and the ability to analyze financial data to ensure accurate tax reporting. The Corporate Tax Specialist will work closely with senior tax professionals to support the company's tax strategy and ensure timely and accurate tax filings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Tax Compliance:
- Assist in the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local corporate tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations, including tax filings, payments, and reporting requirements.
- Prepare tax provisions and workpapers in compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., ASC 740).
- Tax Research & Analysis:
- Conduct research on tax issues impacting the company, including new tax laws, regulations (including intricacies of exemptions), and rulings.
- Analyze tax implications of business transactions and operations, providing advice to management and other departments.
- Assist in evaluating tax positions and strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize financial performance.
- Tax Planning:
- Support tax planning efforts by assisting with tax-efficient structures for mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
- Prepare and assist with tax forecasting and projections, supporting senior tax professionals in strategic planning.
- Internal Controls & Documentation:
- Maintain organized and accurate tax documentation for audits and regulatory filings.
- Assist in managing the company's tax-related internal controls to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Audit Support:
- Assist with tax audits by gathering documentation and providing necessary information for auditors.
- Respond to inquiries from tax authorities and work to resolve any tax disputes or issues.
- Tax Reporting:
- Support the preparation of tax reports for internal stakeholders, including financial statements and management reports.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings, ensuring deadlines are met, including alcohol operational and excise tax compliance.
- Continuous Learning & Development:
- Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws, policies, and industry best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or MST (Master of Science in Taxation) is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of corporate tax experience, ideally in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of corporate tax laws, including federal, state, and local tax compliance.
- Experience with tax preparation software preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, data analysis, pivot tables).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to assess and understand complex tax issues.
