Job Description
Job Title: Cardiac Sonographer II

Job Specialty: Echocardiology

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: 8-hour days

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Experience: Minimum of 1 year as an Echo Sonographer

License: Registration as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer

Certifications: BLS

Must-Have:
- Professional level of knowledge of echocardiology techniques
- Ability to independently perform diagnostic echocardiogram procedures
- 2D/3D cardiac imaging experience
- Proficiency in transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiography
- RDCS or CCI registry
- Experience with contrast
- EPIC EMR experience
- Pediatric echo experience preferred but not required
- Understanding of drug-free campus policies

Job Description:
- Follow established policies and procedures to perform and record echocardiology diagnostic tests.
- Obtain information about normal and abnormal anatomy to diagnose diseases.
- Ensure echo exams are of acceptable quality and record results.
- Review patient charts and previous study results to select appropriate equipment.
- Explain tests/procedures to patients and gather pertinent personal and medical information.
- Assist patients with proper positioning for exams.
- Move transducer to detect pathologies and check for factors such as position, obstruction, and change of shape.
- Capture images in CPACS and resolve any QA issues.
- Discuss test results with physicians or other personnel as needed.
- Maintain equipment in clean, working order and notify department leadership of malfunctions.
- Perform related clerical duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and distributing test results.
- Stay updated on current trends and developments in the field by attending seminars and conferences.
- Support continuous quality improvement efforts to increase patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Assist in the clinical training of new team members and students.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with medical personnel and external agencies.
