This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.
DEPARTMENT: Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility

HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

LOCATION: 3000 Arctic Boulevard

Example of Duties

Prepares and administers the IT Division Capital Improvements and Operating budgets including preparing funding authorizations, completing cash flows, maintaining records and researching problems, processing invoices for payment and closure of accounts. Coordinates all requests for voice/data line changes/additions for all AWWU facilities. Prepares and administers hardware and software maintenance contracts and inventory; maintains and reports request for service applications from users; identifies and recommends solutions to pending or existing maintenance or request for service. Prepares AWNU Policies and Procedures, travel/training requests, leave schedules, etc. Produces written instructions, memos and documentation that effectively communicates content and intent of the document. Responsible for managing the long distance access codes for the Utility. Clearly, concisely and accurately exchanges information and ideas through oral communication to accomplish IT Division objectives and maintain good public relations. Assists users in resolving computing related problems dealing with hardware, software and networks. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Participate in major emergencies or disasters as outlined in AWWU's disaster plan matrix, which defines each employee's potential duties and responsibilities. This may include 12-hour work shifts, which may continue for 72 hours or more starting at any time an event might occur, 7 days a week, 24 hours per day.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

High school diploma, GED or equivalent, and six (6) years of experience in the field related to the position.

OR

Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline, and four (4) years of experience in the field related to the position.

OR

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline, and two (2) years of experience in the field related to the position.

Military Service Interview Preference

Proof of current service can be shown by submission of a statement of service which, at a minimum, shows the full name, date of birth, Social Security Number, date service began, branch of service, rank, name of command providing the information, and unit of assignment. The statement of service must be on a form or letterhead of the individual's command organization, and shows the name, signature, title, and contact information of the signer providing the statement of service. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
