Job Summary
The PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) Imaging Analyst is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of the PACS, RIS (Radiology Information System), and other imaging-related systems within a healthcare setting. This role ensures seamless integration, troubleshooting, and optimization of imaging workflows to support radiologists, technologists, physicians, and other medical professionals.

Job Summary
The PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) Imaging Analyst is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of the PACS, RIS (Radiology Information System), and other imaging-related systems within a healthcare setting. This role ensures seamless integration, troubleshooting, and optimization of imaging workflows to support radiologists, technologists, physicians, and other medical professionals.
Key Responsibilities
System Administration & Support
- Administer and maintain the PACS, RIS, and related imaging systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to imaging software, hardware, and network connectivity.
- Collaborate with IT, radiology, and clinical staff to ensure smooth PACS operations.
- Provide technical support and training to end-users, including radiologists, technologists, and physicians.
- Monitor system performance, storage capacity, and data integrity to ensure optimal functionality.
- Ensure PACS integration with other hospital systems, including EHR/EMR, HIS (Hospital Information System), and VNA (Vendor Neutral Archive).
- Work with vendors and IT teams to support DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) and HL7 (Health Level Seven) standards.
- Optimize imaging workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy, and patient care.
- Assist in developing policies and procedures for image acquisition, storage, and retrieval.
- Maintain data security and privacy in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct routine system audits and generate reports as required.
- Ensure proper backup and disaster recovery protocols for imaging data.
- Assist in system upgrades, patches, and migrations while minimizing downtime.
- Participate in planning and implementation of new imaging technologies and enhancements.
- Coordinate with vendors for system support, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Radiologic Technology, Health Informatics, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in PACS administration, radiology IT support, or a related role.
- Experience working in a healthcare or radiology environment is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in PACS, RIS, DICOM, and HL7 protocols.
- Knowledge of medical imaging modalities (CT, MRI, X-ray, Ultrasound, etc.).
- Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and healthcare IT infrastructure.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with database management, networking, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to train and support medical staff effectively.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining data accuracy and security.
- Primarily office-based within a hospital, imaging center, or healthcare IT department.
- May require on-call support, weekend, or evening shifts as needed.
- Possible travel between healthcare facilities depending on the organization.
- CIIP (Certified Imaging Informatics Professional)
- PACS Administrator Certification (PARCA, ASCP, or equivalent)
- CompTIA Network+, Security+, or other relevant IT certifications
