Job Title: Occupational Therapist
Job Specialty: Occupational Therapy

Shift: 8-hour day shift, 5x8 Hr, 0730-1600
Guaranteed Hours: 40.00 per week
Experience: Previous work experience providing direct patient care in outpatient, inpatient, or inpatient rehab unit preferred. Prior use of electronic medical records preferred.
License: Applicable state license for Occupational Therapy
Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association
Must-Have: Ability to communicate effectively in English (speak, read, write)
Job Description:
- Evaluate patients presenting or referred to occupational therapy by completing initial evaluations within department protocol standards.
- Apply diagnostic and prognostic tests for musculoskeletal, neurological, and neuromuscular conditions, including special tests for disability level and outcome tracking.
- Develop and reassess treatment plans with specific goals and activities, modifying as needed based on the patient's current functional level.
- Utilize various sensorimotor, neuromuscular re-educational, recreational, and social activities to foster maximum independence in daily living activities.
- Apply technical knowledge in rehabilitative activities tailored to patient needs, including ADL training, home safety assessments, compensatory techniques and equipment use, neuromuscular and sensory re-education, fine and gross motor coordination, energy conservation, functional mobility, positioning, splinting, and hand therapy.
- Perform evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address each patient's unique rehabilitation needs.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members to establish appropriate treatment plans with measurable and attainable goals and time frames.
- Recognize individual limitations and capabilities, utilizing available resources.
- Assess patients' learning styles and teach necessary skills and techniques for participation in occupational therapy.
- Demonstrate flexibility by floating to other areas or sites and being available to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- Consult with the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate activities or programs based on patient needs and capabilities.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, physicians, and others concerning rehabilitation services, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrate time management and prioritize workload to meet productivity requirements.
- Document patient care activities, evaluations, progress notes, treatment records, billing charges, and reports per medical records procedures.
- Participate in personal, professional, and program development through attending department meetings and sharing expertise.
- Assist in training occupational therapy students, certified occupational therapist assistants, and other personnel.
- Act as a resource for new staff members and coworkers by sharing information and providing education.
- Participate in department and hospital quality improvement initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes.
- Adhere to professional code of ethics and all accreditation and regulatory requirements.
